Volunteer Opportunities
Adoption Foster
The animal foster is on our front line in the fight to save lives. This challenging opportunity means caring for homeless animals temporarily in your own home. This is the basis for Dream Power - as we have no "animal shelter". We occasionally need a retirement home for an animal. Food, supplies and vet care are provided by Dream Power. Dog runs, cat condos and pet kennels are often available for loan to volunteers.
Dream Power Animal Rescue Foundation Board Member
If you have reached a high level of professional accomplishment and would be interested in leveraging the wealth of experience and knowledge you have acquired in your career to help animals, Dream Power would be delighted to consider you for a position on our governing Board of Directors. This is a rare opportunity to use your professional skills and influence in the community to make a substantial difference in the lives of innocents. Interested individuals please contact Craig Richards at aegisintl1@gmail.com
Humane Educationalist
This work usually goes on during the day on weekdays but sometimes during the week. We offer presentations to school children on pet care and other important topics. Videotapes and other presentation materials are used. Usually, two volunteers travel to each classroom.
Special Events Coordinators
We often participate in special events in which we have booths that are staffed by Dream Power volunteers (e.g. Territory Days, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Critterfest). This includes talking with people and general public relations. This coordinator will help plan the events to include staffing, animals, merchandise and transportation. Also would assist in helping plan volunteer celebration events.
Fundraising Team Member
We currently need individuals interested in helping with thank-you letters, fundraising letters, email coordination, fundraisers, and grant tracking. If you have any experience in this area, or need some, please let us know how you can help!
Adoption Follow-up
This entails calling adopters to ensure all is well with an adoption within 2 weeks after the adoption is complete. This is a very important part of our program, but can be stressful. Good "people skills" are necessary - one must deal with somewhat difficult situations at times.
Drivers
This includes transportation of dogs, cats and other animals to and from foster homes, to the vet or to adoption fairs as well as to special events. On an as-needed basis small, medium and large (truck needed) items need to be picked up throughout the Colorado Springs area and delivered to PetSmart, a volunteer’s home or to the office..
Volunteer Assistance
Our entire volunteer department is currently being run by a volunteer who has taken on this immense challenge and all of the responsibility herself. We'd love to have your help in this area if you have a knack for organization, inspiring others, or just feel like you'd be a great asset to the department.
Special Projects
We're currently doing a lot of work at our currently facility, and need a lot of help! It would be great if we could find individuals with construction, plumbing, carpentry, or any general contractor experience; but we also need people willing to just help us cart off junk and get spiffy!
Everything Else
Designing artwork, pet care, photography, data entry, IT, marketing, and many other needs are just waiting for the right individual to come along! Please don't worry if you don't see something that fits you listed here, if you have a desire to help us change lives then you are exactly the type of volunteer we're looking for!
